The term firewall can refer to a device that implements firewall software, or it can refer to the software and policy running on the device, or it can refer to just the firewall access policy.

In this document, the term firewall refers the firewall object in in Firewall Builder. The firewall object contains a logical representation of the firewall devices interfaces, and the access policy ruleset, NAT ruleset, and Routing ruleset that will be placed on the firewall device.

The term policy can refer to the entire set of "business logic" that is implemented in the firewall, or it can refer to the access policy portion of firewall only.
