Firewall Builder Licensing

Firewall Builder License Model

Firewall Builder is available under a "dual license" model. Under this model, users may choose between packages that are distributed under the GNU Public License (commonly known as GPL) or packages that are distributed under a commercial license.

Commercial License

NetCitadel, LLC provides packages of Firewall Builder under a commercial license for the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X commercial operating systems. Packages of Firewall Builder for these commercial OS are distributed under the terms of the NetCitadel End User License Agreement.

GNU Public License (GPL)

Firewall Builder packages are available under the GPL for Linux systems (defined as any distribution available under the terms of GPL), FreeBSD, or any other operating system or distribution that is available under the terms of the GPL.

The complete source code archives are provided on the downloads page and build instructions are published on the web site. Please note that Firewall Builder GUI is based on QT and therefore requires the QT run time libraries and development packages if you wish to build from source. For more information about QT licensing refer to the QT licensing terms available at http://www.trolltech.com.

Downloads

You can download source code and binary packages distributed under GPL from our web site or from our SourceForge project page

Support

Users who purchase a commercial license are entitled to 1 year of support via email (support at netcitadel.com). Support Packages are also available for users that use Firewall Builder under the GPL.

Firewall Builder users that are not covered by a support contract can get support at our SourceForge online forum and on our mailing list.
